Influence of the <scp>MJO</scp> on daily surface air temperature over Iran

The influence of the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) on surface air temperature over Iran is examined using daily data from meteorological stations 1979 to 2015. Composites anomalies are positive in MJO phases 1 and 8 negative 3–4 with broader region tendencies also 2 7, 5–6. This variability associated horizontal advection, whereby southerly (northward) winds act heat northerly (southward) cool Iran, association MJO. Further, we find that minimum temperatures respond more strongly than do maximum temperatures. These signals correspond cloudy humid conditions.
